Effects of different stretching methods on shoulder posture
Comparison of Immediate Effects of Different Stretching Methods for Pectoralis Minor Muscle on Scapula Position, Pectoralis Minor Muscle Length and Scapular Muscle Activation in Individuals With Shoulder Protraction
NA · Gazi University · NCT06307899

What this trial studies
This study aims to compare the immediate effects of three different stretching methods—unilateral corner stretching, manual stretching, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching—on the pectoralis minor muscle in individuals with rounded shoulder posture. Participants will undergo each stretching method randomly, with sessions spaced 48 hours apart. Measurements of muscle length, scapula position, and muscle activation will be taken before and after each intervention by a blind evaluator to assess the effectiveness of each method.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals with shoulder protraction posture who have not undergone shoulder surgery.
Not a fit: Patients with cervical or shoulder pain, adhesive capsulitis, thoracic outlet syndrome, or a history of shoulder surgery may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide effective stretching techniques to improve shoulder posture and reduce related discomfort.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored stretching techniques, this specific comparison of methods for pectoralis minor muscle activation is relatively novel.
