What this trial studies
This study investigates the acute effects of three types of single leg exercises on patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). It focuses on high-intensity interval training, continuous exercise training, and resistance training, assessing their impact on muscle oxygenation and arterial stiffness. The study aims to determine how these exercises can improve aerobic performance and overall physical function in COPD patients. Participants will engage in a single bout of each exercise type to evaluate immediate outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are COPD patients who are seeking physiotherapy and can cooperate with the testing process.
Not a fit: Patients experiencing acute exacerbations or those with severe cardiovascular or orthopedic conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance exercise protocols for COPD patients, leading to improved physical performance and quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While there is existing research on exercise in COPD, this specific approach focusing on single leg exercises is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
