Effects of different fat and carbohydrate diets on digestion and metabolism
Exploring the Effects of Varying Fat:Carbohydrate Diet Permutations on Gastric Emptying and Metabolic Status Using Human Postprandial Model

What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates how varying the composition of meals, specifically the ratio of fat to carbohydrates and the type of fats used, affects gastric emptying and metabolic outcomes in healthy individuals. The study employs a randomized, crossover design with participants undergoing multiple diet rotations, each followed by assessments of blood glucose and insulin levels. Participants will consume test meals and undergo MRI scans to evaluate gut physiology and metabolic responses. The trial aims to provide insights into how meal composition influences postprandial lipemia and glycemia.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy individuals aged 18-65 with a BMI between 18.5 and 25.0 and normal fasting blood glucose levels.
Not a fit: Patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or gastrointestinal illnesses will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to optimized dietary recommendations for better metabolic health and management of postprandial conditions.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on dietary impacts on metabolism, this specific approach of varying fat and carbohydrate ratios in a controlled setting is relatively novel.
