What this trial studies

This study investigates how different macronutrient compositions in energy-restricted diets, combined with exercise training, affect appetite hormones, subjective appetite, and energy intake in overweight and obese women. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a high-carbohydrate low-fat diet or a low-carbohydrate high-fat diet, both paired with an exercise program over four weeks. Measurements of body composition, appetite hormones, and insulin levels will be taken before and after the intervention, alongside dietary intake records to assess changes in calorie consumption. The study aims to understand the interactions between diet, exercise, and metabolic risk factors for cardiovascular diseases.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are healthy women with a BMI of 25.0 kg/m2 or higher who have maintained stable body weight for at least three months.

Not a fit: Patients who smoke, have irregular menstrual cycles, or are on medications or specific diets may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into effective dietary strategies for weight management and appetite regulation in overweight women.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results in the effects of diet composition and exercise on appetite and metabolic health, suggesting this approach has potential.
