What this trial studies

This study investigates how specific postural corrective exercises impact the electromyographic (EMG) activity of masticatory and cervical muscles in individuals with forward head posture. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an exercise group or a control group, with the exercise group performing a regimen of strengthening and stretching exercises four times a week for ten weeks. The study will measure changes in forward head posture using craniovertebral angle assessments and EMG activity of various muscles before and after the intervention. The goal is to determine the effectiveness of these exercises in improving muscle function and posture.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are men and women aged 18-40 who have forward head posture and temporomandibular joint disorder.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of TMG subluxation, neck pain, or other specific posture disorders may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a non-invasive method to improve muscle function and alleviate symptoms associated with forward head posture.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with similar corrective exercise approaches, indicating potential for success in this study.
