What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates whether high-dosage Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) supplementation enhances the secretion of myokines and exerkines in long-distance runners and if these changes positively affect cognitive functions. Participants will take either CoQ10 or a placebo daily for four weeks and will be monitored through regular laboratory visits and by maintaining food and training diaries. The study aims to determine the relationship between endurance training, CoQ10 supplementation, and cognitive performance.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are experienced long-distance runners who have been training for at least two years and run at least twice a week.
Not a fit: Patients who are currently taking supplements that may interfere with the study outcomes or have been injured in the last six months may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve cognitive function and overall performance in long-distance runners through nutritional supplementation.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on CoQ10 in this context, similar studies on supplementation and cognitive function in athletes have shown promising results.
