What this trial studies
This study investigates how a history of concussions affects sleep quality and physical performance in athletes involved in contact sports. It employs both subjective assessments, like self-reported sleep disturbances, and objective measures, such as sleep monitoring and performance tests tailored to the demands of these sports. By comparing data from athletes with and without concussion histories, the research aims to uncover correlations and potential mediating factors that may influence these outcomes. The findings could provide valuable insights into the long-term implications of concussions on athlete health and performance.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are active male combat sports players aged 18-25 with a recent history of mild concussions.
Not a fit: Patients with concussions unrelated to sports or those with metabolic diseases or recent fractures may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of how concussions impact athletes' sleep and performance, leading to better management strategies.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies examining the effects of concussions on athletes, this specific focus on sleep and performance in contact sports is relatively novel.
