What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the combined effects of autogenic drainage and segmental breathing techniques on patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It aims to improve ventilation and clear sputum in COPD patients by randomly assigning 40 participants into two groups: one receiving both techniques and the other receiving only autogenic drainage. The study will utilize a randomized controlled trial design to assess the efficacy of these interventions in enhancing respiratory function and overall patient well-being.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 40 to 60 with moderate COPD as per GOLD criteria.
Not a fit: Patients with severe COPD, asthma, or other major limiting diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve breathing efficiency and quality of life for patients with COPD.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific combination of these techniques may be novel, similar studies have shown positive outcomes with breathing exercises in COPD management.
