What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the impact of surgical intervention for anal fistula on patients' quality of life. It will utilize various validated questionnaires to evaluate changes in quality of life and functional status before and after surgery. The study will focus on both simple and complex anal fistulas, examining the outcomes of different surgical techniques. By monitoring these effects, the study seeks to provide insights into the effectiveness of surgical treatments for anal fistula.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18-65 with cryptoglandular anal fistula requiring surgical intervention.
Not a fit: Patients with other anorectal pathologies such as anal fissures, hemorrhoids, or inflammatory bowel diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of how anal fistula surgery improves patients' quality of life and functional outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes in quality of life improvements following anal fistula surgery, indicating that this approach is supported by existing evidence.
