What this trial studies

This study examines how acupressure and ankle exercises can influence the ankle-brachial index (ABI) in individuals diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Utilizing a randomized controlled experimental design, participants will be divided into groups receiving either acupressure, sham acupressure, or foot ankle exercises. The ABI is a non-invasive measure that helps assess blood flow and detect potential circulatory issues in diabetic patients. The goal is to determine if these interventions can improve peripheral circulation and ABI values, potentially reducing complications associated with diabetes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and can communicate in Turkish.

Not a fit: Patients with psychiatric diseases, diabetic ulcers, foot amputations, myalgia, fractures, or edema in the feet may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a non-invasive method to improve blood circulation in patients with Type 2 diabetes, potentially reducing their risk of complications.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored the effects of acupressure and exercise on diabetes, this specific comparison of interventions on ABI in this population appears to be novel.
