What this trial studies

This project aims to evaluate the short and long-term effectiveness of Temperament Based Therapy with Support (TBT-S) for patients with anorexia nervosa. Participants will receive five consecutive days of TBT-S, alongside standard treatment, to assess its impact on reducing eating disorder psychopathology. The study will measure outcomes at four timepoints: before and after TBT-S, and at 3 and 12 months follow-up. The primary goal is to determine if TBT-S enhances the effectiveness of usual treatment compared to controls.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with anorexia nervosa who are medically stable and willing to involve support persons in their treatment.

Not a fit: Patients with developmental, intellectual, or psychotic disorders, or those currently receiving inpatient treatment, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could significantly improve outcomes for patients with anorexia nervosa by reducing their eating disorder symptoms more effectively than standard treatment alone.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of TBT-S may be novel, similar therapeutic interventions have shown promise in treating eating disorders in previous studies.
