What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of group voice therapy compared to individual voice therapy in children diagnosed with dysphonia. Participants aged 7-11 will be divided into three groups: one receiving group voice therapy, another receiving individual voice therapy, and a control group receiving vocal hygiene training. Each therapy group will undergo eight sessions over eight weeks, with evaluations conducted before therapy, after therapy, and at follow-up intervals. The study aims to assess improvements using both objective and subjective evaluation tools.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 7-11 diagnosed with vocal fold lesions and referred for voice disorder evaluation.
Not a fit: Patients with neurological or psychiatric diagnoses, or those who have undergone prior voice therapy, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a more effective and socially engaging treatment option for children with voice disorders.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown varying success with voice therapy approaches, but this specific comparison of group versus individual therapy is relatively novel.
