What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of thoracic mobilization techniques on coccydynia, a painful condition affecting the coccyx, particularly in females. It aims to explore how improving thoracic spine mobility can indirectly alleviate coccyx pain. Participants will undergo specific interventions, including Thoracic Sustained Natural Apophyseal Glides and Muscle Energy Techniques, to assess their effectiveness in reducing discomfort associated with coccydynia. The study seeks to fill a gap in existing treatment options by evaluating a less commonly used approach.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are females diagnosed with coccydynia.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant or have had recent surgery, fractures, or malignancies in the pelvic area may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a new, effective treatment option for women suffering from coccydynia.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited evidence on the effectiveness of thoracic mobilization for coccydynia, similar approaches in physical therapy have shown promise in improving spinal mobility and related pain.
