What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a massage protocol targeting the thoracic region in patients suffering from mechanical neck pain. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving both cervical manual therapy and thoracic massage, and the other receiving only cervical manual therapy and therapeutic exercise. The study seeks to determine if adding thoracic massage enhances the overall treatment outcomes for neck pain. By comparing these two approaches, the researchers hope to provide insights into the role of thoracic massage in neck pain management.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals experiencing mechanical neck pain for more than three months, with pain levels between 4 and 7 on a visual analog scale.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of whiplash injury, upper extremity pain, herniated discs, fibromyalgia, or any cancer diagnosis may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved treatment options for individuals suffering from chronic neck pain.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on thoracic massage for neck pain, manual therapy techniques have shown promise in treating similar conditions.
