What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate how therapeutic touch applied during childbirth affects pain levels, duration of labor, perceptions of traumatic birth experiences, and anxiety among women. It involves a randomized controlled design with 66 participants, divided into an intervention group receiving therapeutic touch and a control group. Data will be collected using various scales to assess pain, anxiety, and traumatic perceptions related to childbirth.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women with low-risk pregnancies who are about to undergo vaginal delivery.
Not a fit: Patients with high-risk pregnancies or those requiring interventions like vacuum or forceps assistance may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce pain and anxiety during childbirth, leading to a more positive birthing experience.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of therapeutic touch in childbirth is less common, similar studies exploring non-pharmacological pain relief methods have shown promising results.
