What this trial studies

This study investigates the effectiveness of a proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation exercise program in addition to usual care for patients who have undergone total hip arthroplasty. It aims to evaluate various outcomes such as pain intensity, disability level, proprioception, kinesiophobia, balance, and functional status. The study will involve at least 42 patients who are 6 weeks post-operative and will be conducted at the Orthopedics and Traumatology outpatient clinic of Fethiye State Hospital. Evaluations will occur at two time points: 6 weeks and 2 months post-surgery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 60 and older who have undergone unilateral total hip arthroplasty and are 6 weeks post-operative.

Not a fit: Patients with severe obesity, malignancies, or other significant orthopedic or neurological issues may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance recovery and improve functional outcomes for patients after hip surgery.

How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific combination of proprioceptive exercises with hip arthroplasty recovery is relatively novel.
