What this trial studies

This randomized controlled study aims to evaluate the impact of Progressive Relaxation Exercises on first-year nursing students' stress perceptions, psychological resilience, and overall meaning of life before they engage in clinical practice. The study involves 80 participants divided into an intervention group, which will undergo eight sessions of relaxation exercises over four weeks, and a control group. Assessments will be conducted using pre-tests and post-tests to measure changes in stress levels and psychological well-being. The goal is to determine if these exercises can enhance mental health and coping mechanisms among nursing students.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are first-year nursing students without any diagnosed psychiatric conditions or prior experience with relaxation exercises.

Not a fit: Patients who have psychiatric disorders, are currently using antidepressants, or have experienced significant personal loss in the last six months may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the mental health and resilience of nursing students, leading to better performance in clinical settings.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of using relaxation exercises among nursing students is less common, similar studies have shown positive outcomes in stress reduction and psychological well-being in various populations.
