Effect of recruitment maneuver on lung function during laparoscopic gallbladder surgery
The Effect of Recruitment Maneuver on Static Compliance in Patients Undergoing General Anesthesia for Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
This study tests if a special breathing technique during laparoscopic gallbladder surgery can help improve lung function in patients with different body weights.

What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the impact of a recruitment maneuver on lung mechanics in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Participants will be divided into two groups based on their body mass index (BMI): non-obese and pre-obese/obese class I. The recruitment maneuver involves adjusting ventilatory parameters during anesthesia to improve respiratory compliance. The study will monitor respiratory mechanics and vital signs at various stages of the procedure to assess the maneuver's effectiveness.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy with an ASA score of 3 or lower.
Not a fit: Patients with severe obesity (BMI ≥ 35), significant lung diseases, or other serious health conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance lung function and reduce complications during laparoscopic surgeries for patients with varying body weights.
How similar studies have performed: While similar recruitment maneuvers have been explored, this specific application in laparoscopic cholecystectomy is relatively novel.
