What this trial studies
This study investigates how static active hamstring stretching exercises can influence lumbar muscle activation in office workers who experience muscle tightness due to prolonged sitting. It aims to restore the length-tension relationship in the hamstring muscles, which is crucial for lumbar stabilization and reducing low back pain. Participants will engage in stretching exercises while a control group will be placed on a waiting list. The study will assess changes in muscle activation and viscoelastic properties of the hamstrings and lumbar region.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are office workers aged 20 to 50 who sit for at least 5 hours daily and are classified as physically inactive.
Not a fit: Patients with recent lumbar spine or knee surgeries, significant injuries, or other serious health conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved lumbar stability and reduced low back pain for office workers.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with similar stretching interventions for muscle tightness and low back pain, suggesting this approach is supported by existing evidence.
