What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of foot reflexology on women diagnosed with mild preeclampsia during pregnancy. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving standard anti-hypertensive medication and the other receiving the same medication along with foot reflexology sessions for eight weeks. The aim is to assess whether the addition of reflexology can improve outcomes related to hypertension and overall well-being in these patients. The study focuses on normalizing bodily functions, reducing stress, and enhancing blood circulation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are pregnant women aged 20-36 years with a diagnosis of mild preeclampsia and a body mass index not exceeding 35 kg/m2.
Not a fit: Patients with severe preeclampsia, foot injuries, or those outside the specified age and BMI range may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a complementary therapy that improves the management of mild preeclampsia and enhances maternal and fetal health.
How similar studies have performed: While complementary therapies like foot reflexology have been explored in various contexts, this specific approach to managing mild preeclampsia is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
