What this trial studies

This study investigates the effectiveness of a home exercise program for individuals suffering from temporomandibular joint disc displacement with reduction. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a study group, which will engage in a home exercise program along with patient education, or a control group that will only receive patient education. Assessments will be conducted at the beginning and after four weeks to evaluate the impact of the exercise program on their condition.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 65 who have experienced TMJ-related complaints for at least three months and have been diagnosed with TMJ disc displacement with reduction.

Not a fit: Patients with cognitive issues, systemic joint diseases, serious systemic diseases, neurological disorders, or those who have previously received treatment for TMJ pain may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could provide patients with a non-invasive method to alleviate symptoms associated with temporomandibular joint disorders.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is not widely tested, similar studies have shown promise in using exercise programs for managing TMJ disorders.
