What this trial studies

This project aims to assess the environmental impact of breastfeeding compared to artificial breastfeeding, focusing on the carbon footprint associated with both methods. The first phase involves measuring the carbon footprint of breastfeeding and the dietary habits of postpartum women. The second phase evaluates the effectiveness of an educational intervention designed to promote sustainable breastfeeding practices and healthy diets among new mothers. The study targets pregnant women in their third trimester to gather relevant data and implement the educational program.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pregnant women aged 16 and older, between 24 and 32 weeks of gestation.

Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit include those under 16 years of age, those with language barriers, or those who choose not to participate.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could enhance breastfeeding practices while reducing environmental impact, benefiting both mothers and infants.

How similar studies have performed: While studies have explored breastfeeding's health benefits, this specific focus on environmental impact and educational intervention is relatively novel.
