What this trial studies
The EUthyroid2 project aims to develop and implement educational interventions to raise awareness about the risks of iodine deficiency among young women aged 18-24 in Norway, Poland, the UK, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. This cluster-randomized controlled trial will involve 10 clusters per country, with participants receiving interventions in ambulatory care settings. The study will collect data through surveys and semi-structured interviews at three measurement points: baseline, 2-4 weeks, and 6-8 months post-intervention. The goal is to adapt the intervention to the specific contexts of each country to effectively address iodine deficiency.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are non-pregnant women aged 18-24 who are attending specified healthcare settings.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, lactating, or have existing thyroid diseases will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce the incidence of iodine deficiency and its associated health risks in young women.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in implementing educational interventions for public health awareness, suggesting potential for positive outcomes in this approach.
