What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational animation in reducing anxiety and fear in children aged 6-10 years who are scheduled for tympanostomy tube placement. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a training video group, where they will watch an educational video explaining the surgery process, or a control group receiving standard care information. The study will assess the impact of the educational intervention on the children's preoperative anxiety levels, which can significantly affect their recovery and overall experience. Data will be collected through questionnaires designed to measure anxiety and fear levels before and after the intervention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 6-10 years who are scheduled for ear tube surgery and whose legal guardians can provide informed consent.
Not a fit: Patients who have previously undergone surgery or have conditions that hinder communication with parents may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce anxiety in pediatric patients undergoing ear tube surgery, leading to better surgical outcomes and recovery experiences.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown that educational interventions can effectively reduce anxiety in pediatric surgical patients, suggesting a positive outlook for this approach.
