What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate whether a standardized education module provided by pharmacists through social media can enhance breast cancer patients' understanding of chemotherapy-related side effects. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either video education or traditional handouts during their first chemotherapy session. The study will assess knowledge improvement through pre- and post-education questionnaires. The educational content includes information on side effects, prevention strategies, and when to seek medical help.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are breast cancer patients aged 18 or older who are undergoing their first chemotherapy and have access to a smartphone.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to read or complete questionnaires in Chinese, have cognitive impairments, or are pregnant may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve patients' knowledge and management of chemotherapy side effects, leading to better treatment experiences.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of social media for patient education is gaining traction, this specific approach of pharmacist-led video education for chemotherapy side effects is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
