What this trial studies
This observational study aims to describe the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of individuals diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis in the Talavera de la Reina Health Area. It will collect data from medical records, focusing on healthcare resource use and the economic burden of the condition. Up to 400 subjects will be enrolled, and data will be gathered from the initial diagnosis until December 31, 2019, using an electronic case report form. The study will employ a prevalence-based approach for cost estimation, analyzing various healthcare costs associated with knee osteoarthritis.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 18 and older diagnosed with unilateral or bilateral knee osteoarthritis based on established clinical and radiographic criteria.
Not a fit: Patients with pre-existing neurological diseases, connective tissue disorders, or secondary causes of osteoarthritis will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights into the economic burden of knee osteoarthritis, potentially influencing healthcare policies and resource allocation.
