What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of eccentric training on glycemic control and quality of life in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. It aims to determine how this specific type of physical exercise can improve insulin sensitivity and glucose uptake in diabetic patients. The study will include adults aged 40 and older from Rawalpindi and Islamabad who meet specific health criteria. By focusing on eccentric training, which has been less studied in this context, the research seeks to fill a gap in the existing literature on diabetes management.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 40 and older diagnosed with type II diabetes and having an HbA1c level greater than 6.4%.
Not a fit: Patients with acute infections, recent trauma, acute coronary syndrome, or peripheral vascular diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a new exercise approach to significantly improve glycemic control and enhance the quality of life for patients with type II diabetes.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited literature specifically on eccentric training for diabetes, previous studies have shown that various forms of exercise can improve glycemic control, indicating potential for success in this novel approach.
