Early temperature management for heat stroke patients
Application of an Early In-Hospital Temperature Management Protocol for Heat Stroke Patients
This study is testing a new way to quickly lower body temperature in heat stroke patients when they arrive at the emergency room to see if it helps them recover better.

What this trial studies
This study focuses on implementing a systematic temperature management protocol for patients diagnosed with heat stroke upon their admission to the emergency department. Heat stroke is a critical condition characterized by dangerously high body temperatures and can lead to severe organ dysfunction and death if not treated promptly. The protocol aims to standardize the approach to rapidly reduce core body temperature, thereby minimizing cellular damage and improving patient outcomes. The study will evaluate the effectiveness of this protocol in a clinical setting across multiple hospitals in Zhejiang, China.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients admitted to the emergency department with a diagnosis of heat stroke.
Not a fit: Patients who are transferred from another hospital with a body temperature below 39.5°C or those with severe comorbidities may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this protocol could significantly improve survival rates and recovery outcomes for patients suffering from heat stroke.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on systematic protocols for heat stroke management, similar approaches in emergency temperature management have shown promise in other critical conditions.
