What this trial studies
This project investigates the feasibility of an early physiotherapy intervention for patients diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in Denmark. It aims to determine if patients can engage in early mobilization and progressive walking during their hospital stay and the month following discharge. The study consists of a clinical cohort component that measures quantitative outcomes and a qualitative component that gathers patient experiences through interviews. If successful, this intervention could lead to a future randomized controlled trial assessing its impact on quality of life.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are hospitalized with a first-time lower extremity DVT.
Not a fit: Patients who do not understand or speak Danish, terminal patients, or those without a Danish social security number may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could improve recovery and quality of life for patients with deep vein thrombosis.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of early physiotherapy for DVT is not widely practiced, similar interventions in other conditions have shown promising results, indicating potential for success.
