What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates whether performing an early laparoscopic cholecystectomy after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) can reduce the risk of complications associated with gallstones. The study includes patients aged 15-70 who have undergone ERCP for gallstone treatment. It aims to evaluate the effectiveness of this surgical approach in preventing further complications related to choledocholithiasis. The trial will exclude patients with certain medical conditions that may complicate surgery or recovery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients aged 15-70 who have undergone ERCP for gallstones.

Not a fit: Patients with conditions such as post ERCP pancreatitis, end-stage liver disease, or those unfit for general anesthesia may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce complications for patients suffering from gallstones.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with early laparoscopic cholecystectomy approaches, suggesting potential for success in this trial.
