What this trial studies
This is a single-arm prospective pilot study aimed at early lung cancer diagnosis in Korean females aged 45-74 who have never smoked and have a family history of lung cancer. The study will enroll 200 participants over two years, who will undergo low-dose CT (LDCT) screenings and blood draws for plasma-based assays. Participants with positive screening results will receive further diagnostic evaluations, while those with negative results will have repeat LDCT exams for two additional years. A medical history questionnaire will also be administered to assess risk factors.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Korean females aged 45-74, who have never smoked and have a family history of lung cancer.
Not a fit: Patients with a prior history of lung cancer or those currently exhibiting symptoms suggestive of lung cancer may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to earlier detection of lung cancer in high-risk Korean women, potentially improving treatment outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar LDCT screening approaches for lung cancer detection, particularly in high-risk populations.
