What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effects of an e-based physical exercise program on patients with multiple sclerosis (pwMS) who also have comorbidities. It aims to assess clinical outcomes and levels of inflammatory, metabolic, and neurodegenerative mediators over a six-month period. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the e-based exercise intervention or usual care, with their physical activity monitored using accelerometers. The study seeks to understand how physical exercise may influence comorbidities, particularly vascular issues like type 2 diabetes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with a confirmed diagnosis of multiple sclerosis and an EDSS score of less than 7.0.
Not a fit: Patients with recent changes in disease-modifying therapy, active systemic infections, or those who are pregnant may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the quality of life and clinical outcomes for patients with multiple sclerosis by integrating physical exercise into their daily routines.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with physical exercise interventions in multiple sclerosis, suggesting this approach is promising.
