What this trial studies
This observational study uses qualitative methods to examine how a continental staff system (DV 100) is used within a Hospital Incident Command System at a tertiary academic center. Participants are hospital employees who have completed at least one ICS training or exercise and who provide informed consent for a semi-structured interview. Investigators will conduct and analyze interviews to map transition and communication processes within the command structure without introducing any clinical interventions. The goal is to generate practical insights about organizational functioning and communication during hospital emergencies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal participants are hospital employees who have completed at least one Hospital ICS training and any related exercises and who agree to a semi-structured interview.
Not a fit: Employees without any ICS training or those who decline participation are unlikely to benefit from this study's findings directly.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help hospitals organize incident command more clearly, improving role clarity and speed of communication during emergencies.
How similar studies have performed: There is limited published research on DV 100-style continental staff systems in hospitals; the approach is commonly recommended and discussed but not well tested in clinical settings.
