Documenting new cases of primary lung cancer diagnosed in 2020

Study KBP-2020-CPHG Documenting New Cases of Primary Lung Cancer (PLC) Diagnosed in Respiratory Medicine Departments and Lung Cancer Units at General Hospitals From January 1st to December 31st 2020

Observational Collège des Pneumologues des Hôpitaux Généraux · NCT04402099

This study looks at new cases of lung cancer diagnosed in 2020 to see how the disease and its treatment have changed over the years and to understand how many patients survive after one and five years.

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate and analyze changes in the epidemiology of primary lung cancer (PLC) over the last decade by documenting new cases diagnosed in respiratory medicine departments and lung cancer units at general hospitals in France during 2020. The primary endpoint is to estimate the 1-year and 5-year mortality rates for patients with PLC. Secondary endpoints include describing the patient population, diagnostic and therapeutic management, prognostic factors, and comparing these findings to previous studies conducted in 2000 and 2010. The study will provide valuable insights into the current state of PLC management and outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with histologically or cytologically proven primary lung cancer diagnosed in 2020.

Not a fit: Patients with secondary lung cancer or those under 18 years of age will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of lung cancer trends and improve patient management strategies.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies on lung cancer epidemiology have shown success in documenting trends and outcomes, making this approach a continuation of established research.
