What this trial studies
This pilot trial evaluates the Engaging Families home practice smartphone application designed to enhance caregiver engagement in a family-based prevention program. The app aims to improve the home practice of intervention skills among caregivers by providing digital support. Participants will be assigned to either use the Engaging Families app or a scheduling app, and their experiences regarding the app's acceptability and feasibility will be assessed through surveys and interviews. The study focuses on caregivers enrolled in the Bridges program, which addresses youth substance use and mental health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are caregivers of children aged 11-17 who are enrolled in the Bridges program and own a smartphone.
Not a fit: Patients who do not own a smartphone or decline to download the app may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this app could significantly enhance caregiver involvement in preventive interventions, leading to better outcomes for youth.
How similar studies have performed: While similar digital interventions have shown promise, this specific approach is relatively novel and untested.
