What this trial studies

This randomized controlled design enrolls gifted and talented students in grades 9–12 at BİLSEM and randomly assigns them to a structured digital literacy and privacy education program or to standard practice. The intervention covers digital rights, online risks, data protection, digital footprints, and responsible online behavior, delivered through classroom sessions. Outcomes are measured with validated self-report instruments of digital literacy, privacy perception, and privacy-related concerns at pre-test, post-test, and follow-up to capture immediate and sustained effects. The trial aims to inform evidence-based digital literacy and privacy education practices for gifted learners.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Gifted or talented students aged 14–18 enrolled in grades 9–12 at a Science and Art Center (BİLSEM) who actively use digital devices and can provide required consent.

Not a fit: Students not identified as gifted, not enrolled in BİLSEM, outside the 14–18 age range, unable to attend sessions, or who do not use digital devices are unlikely to receive benefit.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the program could help gifted adolescents make safer online choices and better protect their personal data.

How similar studies have performed: Similar digital literacy and privacy education programs have improved privacy awareness among adolescents generally, but randomized evidence specifically focused on gifted BİLSEM students is limited.
