What this trial studies

This is a prospective, single-center, observational study using the Caaring® software platform to support patients 14 days before and for one month after an outpatient colonoscopy. The app delivers step-by-step preparation instructions and collects patient-reported experience data and post-procedure adverse events. Recruitment is expected to last about two months and participants will be followed for one month after their colonoscopy. The main outcome is the rate of inadequate bowel preparation, with secondary outcomes including patient experience and safety monitoring.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18–80 scheduled for outpatient colonoscopy who regularly use a smartphone, can give informed consent, and can complete study questionnaires are the intended participants.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 or over 80, those without smartphone access or adequate technical skills, patients with prior colorectal surgery, or those in the population-based screening program with a positive fecal occult blood test are unlikely to benefit from this intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the platform could lower the rate of inadequate bowel preparations, improving polyp detection and reducing the need for repeat procedures.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies of mobile apps and digital reminder systems for colonoscopy preparation have shown modest improvements in bowel-cleansing quality and adherence, so this approach builds on existing evidence.
