What this trial studies
This observational study will enroll adults who have been recently prescribed GLP-1 therapy but have not yet started the medication, and follow their self-reported dietary changes after initiation. Participants complete short online surveys and dietary recalls using a smartphone and internet, allowing researchers to track diet quality, calorie intake, and perceived needs for nutrition support. The study does not provide GLP-1 medication and focuses on patient experiences, barriers, and preferences rather than clinical outcomes. Findings will be used to inform practical nutrition guidance and support strategies for people using GLP-1 therapies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults aged 18 and older who were recently prescribed GLP-1 therapy for obesity or type 2 diabetes, have not yet started the medication, have regular smartphone and internet access, and are willing to consent are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: People who have already begun their GLP-1 medication, who have medical conditions that make participation unsafe, or who lack smartphone/internet access are unlikely to benefit from participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the results could help create better nutrition guidance to keep diets nutritious while people lose weight on GLP-1 medications.
How similar studies have performed: Most prior research has focused on physiological effects and adherence to GLP-1s rather than patient-reported dietary experiences, so this patient-centered approach is relatively novel.
