What this trial studies
This program, Project Dulce Arabic, aims to improve diabetes self-management among Arab Americans by providing culturally and linguistically appropriate education. It includes a 5-week peer-led educational course in Arabic and a 3-month text messaging support system. The study seeks to enhance participants' diabetes knowledge, beliefs, and self-management behaviors, while also measuring improvements in hemoglobin A1C levels. Additionally, it incorporates genetic education to raise awareness about the genetic factors influencing type 2 diabetes in this community.

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are self-identified Arab Americans diagnosed with type 2 diabetes who meet specific health criteria.
Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant or currently participating in another diabetes-related study may not receive benefit from this program.
Why it matters
