Diabetes Body Project 2: a body-image program for women with type 2 diabetes
Development of a T2D-Specific, Virtually-Delivered Disordered Eating Prevention Intervention - Diabetes Body Project 2
This program will test whether a short body-image prevention program helps women aged 18–40 with type 2 diabetes feel better about their bodies, reduce disordered eating behaviors, and improve blood sugar control.

What this trial studies
The Diabetes Body Project 2 (DBP2) adapts a body-image prevention program originally developed for young women with type 1 diabetes to women with type 2 diabetes. The interventional program (Body Project Type 2) enrolls women 18–40 years with type 2 diabetes for at least six months who report body image concerns and delivers structured sessions that may be video-recorded. Outcomes measured include feasibility, body image satisfaction, disordered eating behaviors, and glycemic control before and after the intervention. Participants with recent eating-disorder hospitalization or diabetes-related DKA, insufficient English, or cognitive/psychiatric limitations are excluded.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Women aged 18–40 with a documented diagnosis of type 2 diabetes for at least six months who report at least one body image concern are the intended candidates.
Not a fit: People recently hospitalized for an eating disorder, who experienced diabetes-related DKA within the past year, who refuse video recording, or who have limited English or cognitive/psychiatric barriers may not benefit or be eligible.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, participants may experience improved body satisfaction, fewer disordered eating behaviors, and better blood glucose control.
How similar studies have performed: A version of the Body Project has shown promise for improving body image and diabetes management in young women with type 1 diabetes, but adapting it specifically for type 2 diabetes is novel.
