Developing blood tests to predict immunotherapy response in kidney cancer

A Companion Diagnostic Study to Develop Circulating Exosomes as Predictive Biomarkers for the Response to Immunotherapy in Renal Cell Carcinoma

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate the use of circulating exosomes as predictive biomarkers for the response to immunotherapy in patients with advanced metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC). By collecting blood and urine samples from participants scheduled to receive immune checkpoint inhibitors, researchers hope to identify specific biomarkers that can indicate how well a patient may respond to treatment. The study focuses on patients aged 18 and older who can provide informed consent and excludes those with other active malignancies. The ultimate goal is to enhance personalized treatment strategies for RCC patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older with advanced metastatic renal cell carcinoma who are about to start immunotherapy.

Not a fit: Patients with other active invasive malignancies may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more accurate predictions of treatment responses, allowing for tailored immunotherapy approaches in kidney cancer patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored biomarkers for immunotherapy responses, but the specific use of circulating exosomes in this context is relatively novel.
