What this trial studies
This study aims to establish a consensus on the curriculum for training in cardiothoracic critical care by utilizing the Delphi method. It involves a series of surveys conducted in two phases, where a panel of experts will respond to rounds of questions designed to gauge agreement on key competencies and training needs. Each round will take about 20 minutes, and responses will be confidential, with the goal of achieving at least 80% consensus on various topics. The process will help identify areas of agreement and those needing further discussion to unify training standards in the field.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are experts in cardiothoracic surgery critical care medicine with at least 5 years of practice and significant experience in intensive care units.
Not a fit: Patients who are not experts in the field or lack the necessary experience in cardiothoracic critical care will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved training standards and competencies for cardiothoracic critical care professionals, ultimately enhancing patient care.
How similar studies have performed: While the Delphi method has been used in various fields to reach consensus, this specific application to cardiothoracic critical care training is relatively novel.
