What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on creating a new questionnaire designed to effectively measure how well adolescents with spinal deformities adhere to prescribed Physiotherapy Scoliosis Specific Exercises at home. By utilizing a Rasch measurement model, the questionnaire aims to enhance the sensitivity and specificity of adherence assessment for this patient population. The study targets adolescents aged 10 to 18 years who have been diagnosed with conditions such as adolescent idiopathic scoliosis or Scheuermann's kyphosis. The goal is to improve the understanding of adherence to treatment, which is crucial for effective management of spinal deformities.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adolescents aged 10 to 18 years with a diagnosis of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis or Scheuermann's kyphosis who are prescribed specific exercises.
Not a fit: Patients with a positive neurological evaluation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved adherence measurement, ultimately enhancing treatment outcomes for adolescents with spinal deformities.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of developing a specific adherence questionnaire is innovative, similar studies have shown the importance of adherence measurement in treatment outcomes, suggesting potential for success.
