What this trial studies
This study focuses on small vessel disease (SVD), which is a significant contributor to strokes and dementia. It aims to characterize lesions associated with SVD using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to develop new early-stage markers for stroke. The project is part of the ANR SUMMIT initiative and involves a detailed analysis of tissue damage that occurs prior to stroke events. Participants will undergo MRI scans to gather data for refining treatment approaches.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 82 years or older who have previously enrolled in the Tours body donation program.
Not a fit: Patients with contraindications to body donation or MRI, as well as those with infectious diseases, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to earlier detection and improved treatment strategies for patients at risk of stroke due to small vessel disease.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using MRI to identify early markers of stroke, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
