What this trial studies

This observational study aims to translate and culturally adapt the Short Form 36 (SF-36) questionnaire for use among stroke survivors in Myanmar. It will assess the content validity, convergent validity, divergent validity, and reliability of the Burmese version of the SF-36. Additionally, the study will evaluate the responsiveness of this adapted questionnaire to detect meaningful changes over time in stroke survivors' health status. Participants will be interviewed by the research team to gather data on their experiences and satisfaction.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Burmese-speaking stroke survivors aged 18 and above who have experienced hemiplegia for at least one month.

Not a fit: Patients with other neurological diseases, recurrent strokes, or those unable to understand the Burmese language may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a reliable and valid tool for assessing health-related quality of life in Burmese-speaking stroke survivors.

How similar studies have performed: While the adaptation of health questionnaires has been successful in other contexts, this specific adaptation for the Burmese-speaking stroke population is novel and untested.
