Detecting urinary exosomes in patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma

Evaluation of Urinary Exosomes Presence From Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to develop a reliable technique for detecting urinary exosomes in patients diagnosed with clear cell renal cell carcinoma. By utilizing electron microscopy and flow cytometry, the study will analyze urine samples to identify specific exosome markers associated with the cancer. The goal is to create a non-invasive biological test that could facilitate early diagnosis, potentially improving patient outcomes. The study will include patients undergoing nephrectomy for renal masses and will compare their urinary exosome profiles to those of control patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients with a renal mass requiring surgical intervention, such as partial or total nephrectomy.

Not a fit: Patients with insufficient urine sample volume or those with urinary catheters may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to a simple and non-invasive method for the early diagnosis of clear cell renal cell carcinoma.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of urinary exosomes for cancer detection is a promising area, this specific approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
