Detecting hidden heart rhythm disorders using wearable ECG technology
Unmasking Concealed Arrhythmia Syndromes
Imperial College London · NCT06988189
This study is testing whether wearable heart monitors can help find hidden heart rhythm problems, specifically Brugada syndrome, in people who might not know they have it.

What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of non-invasive electrocardiograph techniques, particularly long-term monitoring with wearable ECG devices, to identify concealed Brugada syndrome. It involves the development of an AI-enabled ECG platform to automate the detection and analysis of Brugada ECG patterns. Participants will be fitted with wearable monitors for continuous ECG monitoring, and the study will explore arrhythmic risk markers in patients with both manifest and concealed arrhythmia syndromes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults who are willing to participate and can provide informed consent.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to give consent or are under 18 or over 100 years old may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved detection and management of concealed Brugada syndrome, potentially reducing the risk of serious cardiac events.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of wearable ECG technology is gaining traction, this specific approach combining AI with long-term monitoring for Brugada syndrome is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
