What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a decompression device, created using a fully digital workflow, for the treatment of odontogenic cysts. Patients will undergo cystostomy and decompression procedures, with the device being delivered on the same day as the surgery. The study will also assess the volumetric changes of the cysts over time through pre- and postoperative imaging using Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). The trial includes a detailed postoperative care regimen to ensure patient safety and recovery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients presenting with odontogenic cysts of the jaws that involve anatomical landmarks.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of tumors or irradiation therapy in the head and neck region, uncontrolled medical or psychiatric disorders, or those unwilling to return for follow-up appointments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to more effective and less invasive treatment options for patients with odontogenic cysts.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach utilizes advanced digital technology, similar studies have shown promising results in the treatment of odontogenic cysts, indicating potential for success.
