What this trial studies

This project aims to culturally adapt and pilot test a therapeutic manual for treating Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) in urban Egypt. It focuses on integrating culture-specific symptoms and structural factors affecting mental health, such as economic and social inequalities. The study will assess the feasibility, acceptability, and initial clinical outcomes of the adapted treatment and a diagnostic module for CPTSD among Egyptian adults with a history of severe trauma.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Egyptian adults aged 18 and older who have experienced severe and prolonged trauma and screen positive for CPTSD.

Not a fit: Patients at imminent risk of suicide, those with psychotic symptoms, or severe substance abuse issues may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a more effective and culturally relevant treatment for individuals suffering from Complex PTSD in Egypt.

How similar studies have performed: While there is growing interest in culturally-adapted interventions for PTSD, this specific approach in the context of urban Egypt is novel and has not been extensively tested.
