What this trial studies
Researchers will provide creative conversation materials to healthcare professionals who work with children and adolescents to support discussions about suicidal thoughts. Eligible participants are Dutch‑proficient clinicians aged 18 or older with internet access who work in mental health care. Recruitment and study activities are led by Ghent University and the Flemish Centre of Expertise in Suicide Prevention and will collect feedback on how usable and acceptable the materials are in routine care. The goal is to see whether these materials make it easier and safer for clinicians to open and manage conversations about suicidality with young people.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Dutch‑proficient healthcare professionals aged 18 or older (for example GPs, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, or nurses) who work with children or adolescents and have internet access.
Not a fit: Patients who are adults, who receive care from clinicians outside Flanders or who do not speak Dutch, or whose clinicians do not adopt the materials are unlikely to see direct benefit.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, these materials could make it easier for clinicians to have open conversations that identify and reduce suicide risk in children and adolescents.
How similar studies have performed: Previous research shows that asking about suicidal thoughts is safe and can lower risk, but using creative materials specifically with clinicians working with youth is relatively untested.
